Die Stelleninhaberin bzw. der Stelleninhaber vertritt das Fachgebiet Politische Psychologie in Forschung und Lehre. Die Lehraufgaben ergeben sich aus den Curricula der Bachelor- und Masterstudiengänge Psychologie, Sozial- und Kommunikationswissenschaften und Environmental Challenges and Human Responses. Wir erwarten eine hohe Bereitschaft und Fähigkeit, sich thematisch innerhalb des Instituts für Kommunikationspsychologie und Medienpädagogik (IKM), des Fachbereichs Psychologie und der RPTU zu vernetzen und sich insbesondere bei der Einwerbung von Verbundprojekten einzubringen. Erwartet werden darüber hinaus die regelmäßige individuelle Einwerbung von Drittmitteln und die Mitwirkung in der akademischen Selbstverwaltung.

Es wird eine international sichtbare Person mit hohem Entwicklungspotential, sehr guten Führungsqualitäten und besonders hoher Anschlussfähigkeit an das IKM, den Fachbereich Psychologie, den Potenzialbereich SCOPE (Societal COmmunication in times of PErmacrisis) und die RPTU gesucht. Beispiele für anschlussfähige Themen sind politische Einstellungen und deren Messung, politische Kommunikation, Konflikt & Kooperation, gesellschaftliche Polarisierung in Kriesenzeiten, Radikalisierung, Verschwörungsideologien, Populismus, die Rolle digitaler Medienumgebungen oder die Ergänzung klassischer sozialwissenschaftlicher Methoden mit informatorischen Ansätzen (Computational Social Science).

Von den Bewerberinnen und Bewerbern werden neben entsprechender wissenschaftlicher Qualifikation besondere didaktische Fähigkeiten und Erfahrung in der Lehre erwartet.

Vorausgesetzt werden:

• eine qualifizierte Promotion in Psychologie, bei entsprechender Einschlägigkeit auch in angrenzenden Disziplinen wie Kommunikations- oder Politikwissenschaft,
• zusätzliche wissenschaftliche Leistungen (§49 Abs 2 HochSchG),
• einschlägige Lehrerfahrung und pädagogische Eignung,
• exzellente international sichtbare Forschungsleistungen, nachgewiesen durch Veröffentlichungen in einschlägigen Publikationsorganen,
• erfolgreiche Einwerbung kompetitiver Drittmittelprojekte als PI,
• hervorragende Kenntnisse im Bereich quantitativer Forschungsmethoden und Statistik sowie Bereitschaft zur Mitarbeit an der Methodenausbildung.

Wünschenswert sind Forschungsleistungen und ggf. Lehrerfahrung mit Kommunikations- und Medienbezug.

Im Einklang mit dem Leitbild der RPTU misst der Fachbereich Psychologie der Transparenz und Reproduzierbarkeit sozialwissenschaftlicher Forschung großen Stellenwert bei und erwartet, dass Bewerber*innen darstellen, inwieweit sie Open-Science-Praktiken (beispielsweise Präregistrierung, Open Data, Open Materials) in Forschung und Lehre) umsetzen.

Das Land Rheinland-Pfalz und die RPTU vertreten ein Betreuungskonzept, bei dem eine hohe Präsenz der Lehrenden am Hochschulort erwartet wird. Neben den allgemeinen dienstrechtlichen Voraussetzungen gelten die in § 49 des Hochschulgesetzes Rheinland-Pfalz geregelten Einstellungsvoraussetzungen.

The successful candidate will represent the field of political psychology in research and teaching. Teaching duties will be based on the curricula of the Bachelor and Master programs in Psychology, Social and Communication Sciences, and Environmental Challenges and Human Responses. We expect a high level of willingness and ability to collaborate within the Institute for Communication Psychology and Media Educaction, the Department of Psychology, and the RPTU, and activities in the acquisition of joint projects. Furthermore, we expect the regular individual acquisition of third-party funding and participation in academic self-administration. In addition to the relevant academic qualifications, applicants are expected to have special didactic skills and experience in teaching.

We are looking for an internationally visible person with high potential for development, very good leadership qualities, and a particularly high level of connectivity to the Institute for Communication Psychology and Media Education, the Department of Psychology, the research network SCOPE (Societal COmmunication in times of PErmacrisis), and the RPTU. Examples of relevant topics include political attitudes and their measurement, political communication, conflict and cooperation, polarization in times of crisis, radicalization, conspiracy ideologies, populism, the role of digital media environments, and the supplementation of classic social science methods with computational approaches (computational social science).

Requirements:

• a qualified doctorate in psychology or in related disciplines such as communication or political science (if sufficiently connected to political psychology)
• additional academic achievements (§49 (2) HochSchG)
• relevant teaching experience and pedagogical skills
• excellent internationally visible research achievements, demonstrated by publications in relevant journals,
• successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding projects as PI,
• excellent knowledge of quantitative research methods and statistics, and willingness to collaborate in the “research methods” training.

Research achievements and, if applicable, teaching experience related to communication and media are desirable.

In line with the RPTU's mission statement, the Department of Psychology places great importance on transparency and reproducibility in social science research and expects applicants to explain in their application the extent to which they implement open science practices (e.g., pre-registration, open data, open materials) in research and teaching.

The state of Rhineland-Palatinate and RPTU advocate a supervision concept in which a high level of presence of teaching staff at the university location is expected. In addition to the general employment requirements, the employment requirements set out in Section 49 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act apply.
